The history of the Polonez begins at the end of 1972, when the FSO product development line was established at the highest party level. For economic reasons, the FSO Polonez was constructed on the platform of the Polish Fiat 125p car, from which other technical solutions were also adopted. For this reason, the car inherited most of its defects from its predecessor: a weak, outdated engine, a short wheelbase and a large turning radius. However, the Polonez was better equipped than the Polski Fiat: it had more comfortable seats and a richer dashboard. In the series 07 come forward, Lieutenant Borewicz used Polonaises produced in the 19781987. This is where their common name Borewicz comes from.
