Sd.Kfz.167 Sturmgeschutz IV
The Sturmgeschotz IV was developed on the chassis of the medium tank Panzer IV to provide the German army with an assault gun that could effectively serve as a tank destroyer in the later stages of World War II. The Stug IV was equipped with the fast-firing Stuk40 75 mm L/48 gun mounted in a casemate, protected by armored shielding, capable of penetrating the armor of the enemy's main armored vehicles.
In the first months of 1944, it supplemented and often replaced the assault gun Stug III, the production of which was suddenly reduced in 1943 due to the increasing frequency of Allied bomber raids on German industrial territory. The widely used Stug IV was used by armored units and anti-tank units of the Wehrmacht, where due to its low profile it was particularly difficult to identify.
