The Douglas A-26 entered World War II relatively late: the first eighteen units were sent to the European front in the summer of 1944. However, shortly thereafter, the Invader proved its worth, and after the armistice, forces equipped with these aircraft carried out over 11,000 missions. Also in the Pacific, within just a few months, the Invader solidified its reputation as the crews' favorite bomber. After a short time, the A-26 fought again in Vietnam. It then became an average standard bomber for the USAF used in the Korean War. It was in this conflict that the A-26C variant was more widely used.
