Tainted Grail is a survival and exploration game that combines Arthurian legend and Celtic mythology into a unique, dark vision. Players control one of four unusual characters who face unimaginable adversity where stronger and wiser heroes have failed. Pursued by the overwhelming power of the Wyrdnis, they set out to save Avalon from destruction. In Tainted Grail, each player chooses one of the four unique characters, each of whom has different starting requirements and abilities. As a group and also on their own, they travel to Avalon. They interact with inhabitants, explore mysterious places, collect food and fight against numerous enemies. The battles and diplomacy encounters use an innovative map mechanic. Again and again, players read passages from the Book of Discoveries and make decisions that affect the gameplay. Sometimes it can be important which character is there at that moment.
