Gneisenau was a German battleship from World War II, which entered service on May 21, 1938. Both the Scharnhorst and the Gneisenau were a new type of German battleship. They were characterized by greater size, speed and more powerful armament. They were created in response to the expansion of the navy in France. Gneisenau took part in many combat operations, including the famous Operation Berlin in 1941, where he showed good effectiveness. She was sunk on 28 March 1945 in Gdynia in order to block the port.
