Detective. City of Angels
Detective. City of Angels is a thrilling crime game set in the dark, criminal world of Los Angeles in the 1940s.
The crime game "Detective. City of Angels" is set in the dark and brutal world of Los Angeles in the 1940s. Most players will take on the roles of detectives of the LA Police Department's homicide squad. Cops eager for applause, ready to do anything to close the case, even if it involves intimidating suspects, hiding evidence or giving bribes to snitches. One player will take on the role of the Conniver, whose main goal is to manipulate facts, plant misleading leads, and sometimes get suspects to lie. As you search Los Angeles, relentless investigators will find new evidence and fresh leads as they dive into the gripping history of the City of Angels.
In the game you will find 9 intricately constructed criminal puzzles, with different levels of difficulty (Rookie, Old Dog, Professional). The detectives and the Twister use books with detailed descriptions of cases, which can be solved by various paths. With the use of an adaptable answer card system, players feel like they are really interrogating suspects. Detectives can question the veracity of the answers they receive, but this comes with a great risk: if they make a mistake, the Swindler will gain an advantage over them, making it much more difficult for them to solve the case.
"Detective" has different game modes: classic competitive mode (3-5 players) and alternative: investigator (for a lone detective or several detectives in co-op) and one-on-one (1-5 players).
The game's developer, Evan Derick, was inspired by classic film noir films such as "The Big Sleep", the works of James Ellroy and the video game "LA Noir". The atmospheric illustrations were created by Vincent Dutrait.
