An absolute novelty in the COBI offer and the opening of a completely new automotive series. A technically advanced brick set in a large 1:12 scale measures up to 30 cm in length. The car released under the original TRABANT license was designed from 1420 elements. The model is distinguished by the use of only high-quality prints! We completely abandoned stickers. Especially for the needs of such large sets, new elements have been designed, providing additional functionalities. A movable steering wheel that can be used to turn the wheels, hinges for opening doors, body parts. Under the tilting hood there is an engine modeled from blocks. On the rear shaft you will find a characteristic first aid kit. Numerous details such as handles, lights, clocks create a coherent whole with the perfectly reproduced characteristic body of this vehicle. The model is ideal for collectors and lovers of classic cars. Clear and intuitive instructions leading through the steps and blocks packed in numbered bags make the construction process smooth and satisfying.
Trabant is a brand of passenger cars produced in the GDR at the VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke in Zwickau. The 601 model debuted on the market in 1964 and was produced until 1990. Trabant cars use several technically interesting solutions. These were, m.in, a body made of plastic called duroplast. It was characterized by a melting point similar to aluminum and increased the car's resistance to corrosion and crushing. Other noteworthy solutions are a small two-stroke engine, large windows and a relatively roomy interior. The car developed a dizzying speed of slightly more than 100 km/h.
The Trabant has earned the title of a cult car from the German Democratic Republic. To this day, it remains a recognizable and extremely popular classic among automotive enthusiasts. It has also become a permanent part of mass culture.
